To the editor:

I have known Julie Garcia since she was a pre-teen. We grew up as neighbors. As a former resident of Saratoga County and former resident and still property owner in Essex County, I would like to say that Julie Garcia is the best and most qualified person to be elected Supreme Court justice for this area.

When I was growing up in Essex County, it was a much simpler time. Crime and drugs were around, but only in their infant stages as compared to today. We had one full-time and one part-time police officer in our town. On a recent visit, I saw more state troopers and sheriffs than when I lived in Saratoga in 2010.

Julie understands the area, is of the highest moral standards and is not a politician who will tell you what you want to hear. She is very family-oriented person. She is the type of person and friend who would be there in a minute if called at any time, day or night. She truly cares about the people in Upstate New York. She understands that many are living in low-income areas where jobs are not easy to find, and civil and criminal courts are full. When I was in college and Julie was still in high school, she would stop in to see my mother, who was living alone. She did not do it because she had to; she did it because she cared.

She has experience as a litigator on both sides of the court system; she has an independent practice and was also the first female district attorney for Essex County.

I am endorsing Julie and asking that my friends and colleagues in Schenectady, Saratoga, Warren and Essex counties throw your support to Julie as well.
