To the editor:

In the interest of full disclosure, Brian Barrett and I are personal friends. His young son and my daughter attend the same school. We share a concern for the future of the district where our children will grow up and hopefully settle down. I know Brian as a good father, an experienced trial lawyer, and a man with a 30-year vision for what is best for our community. My support for Brian as Essex County judge is based not just on our friendship but on my knowledge of him as someone who has served this county fairly, objectively and without allowing himself to become part of the political back-scratching and back-room-deal making that has compromised so much of local politics. I believe he will show the same integrity and fair-minded independence as our county judge.
