Taxpayers pushed Cycle Adirondacks

To the editor:

“Cycle Ad’ks was an instant classic” (letter, Sept. 4)? Let’s not hope so. The event organizers were expecting 600; only 150 came. One saw the dozen portable toilets in Saranac Lake’s Riverside Park and the empty space at North Country Community College where the revelers were supposed to gather, and one couldn’t help but notice the stark absence of multiple bicyclists in the photographs the group released. The price of $1,495 per person was aimed at the rich – rich who already have a large slice of the Adirondack pie. The cost was shared by you, the taxpayer, at a cost of $1,407 per rider. Life is great when you’ve got the dough!
