It’s a good time to consider solar electricity

To the editor:

Solarize Tri-Lakes was officially launched last week with four successful events. Solar power is clean, locally produced energy that does not give off greenhouse gas emissions. Converting sunlight to electricity right at your home can save you money on utility bills and reduce your community’s reliance on fossil fuels. Solarize campaigns are locally organized community outreach efforts aimed at getting a critical mass of homes and businesses to install solar. Besides spreading the word about the current advantages of investing in solar, Solarize offers community members a group rate for installing residential and commercial solar electric or solar hot water systems that is more affordable than doing it independently. A pre-selected, competitively chosen contractor installs the systems.

Solarize the Tri-Lakes is a 16-week campaign which means the group discount will only last until the end of September. For more information and to get a free site assessment and solar installation price quote, register at www.solarizetrilakes.com or call 518-891-5212. Our next information session will focus on financing options and will be held July 9 at the Saranac Lake Free Library from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Learn how you can spend less money by investing in clean electricity. Or find us at the July 11 farmers market at Riverside Park, Saranac Lake, followed by a guided tour of solar powered homes at 2:30 p.m.

Onward with the sun!
