The Women’s Civic Chamber of Saranac Lake held its 4th Annual Benefit Golf Scramble Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 24. Forty-eight golfers participated in the event hosted at the Saranac Lake Golf Club located in Ray Brook. Funds raised benefit the Women’s Civic Chamber who, since 1955, have been promoting community vitality through our organization’s activities, events and donations.

Congratulations to the Golf Scramble winners: The first place women’s team with a score of 37 consisted of Lynne Brubaker, Lisa G, Marie Morgan and Deb Ward. The first place mixed team with a score of 29 (7 under par!) included Carol Baker, Charlie and Barb Martin, and David Synder. The first place men’s team with a score of 38 consisted of Chuck Cerminara, Jeff and Sam Chambers, and Si Flores.

For the fourth year, the golfers had the special opportunity to meet and golf with several Team USA athletes. They became part of the team helping to make putts on several of the greens. Everyone enjoyed meeting the following athletes:

– Summer Britcher — three-time luge Olympian, five-ttime World Cup winner and two-time overall World Cup medalist

– Jasmine Jones (and her daughter Jade!) — a former record-setting track athlete at Eastern Michigan University, competing with USA Bobsled since 2018 and Olympic hopeful for 2026

– Sophia Kirby — USA Luge National Champion in doubles and 2024 World Championship bronze medalist

– Emily Sweeney — two-time luge Olympian, two-time overall World Cup medalist in women’s Sprint, nine-time World Championships team member and 2019 World Championship bronze medalist.
