Be kind and respect others
Stop with the egg throwing already. It’s just another form of bullying. This past week, eggs were thrown multiple times at the GOP headquarters in Saranac Lake. It’s a childish act, and it may well have been children who did it.
October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and many school districts routinely pass resolutions this time of year supporting efforts to curtail bullying.
But it’s not just for schools; it’s for the rest of society as well. We certainly see bullying during a presidential election year, mainly among adults on social media lobbying insults left and right — a form of virtual egging.
The National Institutes of Health remind us that National Bullying Prevention Month is a time for organizations “to take action at the local level to foster safe and supportive environments. Workplace bullying–whether through hostile comments, discriminatory actions, or other forms of intimidation–should never be tolerated.”
The answer is to promote kindness, acceptance, inclusion and respect.
“Together, we have the power to make bullying a thing of the past and build a better, more compassionate world,” the NIH states.
We encourage people stop bullying and start valuing and respecting each other.
