We’ll miss Baldwin’s commentary

It was with a heavy heart last week that we learned of the death of one of our most active Facebook commenters, Daniel Baldwin.

That sentence may sound strange, but in 2019, engaging with our readers on social media sometimes helps us better understand a story, get tips on leads to follow and/or consider other points of view. It helps us to be even more unbiased and sometimes provides a different way of looking at things.

Danny was very passionate about politics, the outdoors and anything that involved his hometown of Tupper Lake. He often disagreed with our point of view, as expressed in our editorials, but he was always well informed with his opinions.

He was described by family as “bold, genuine, caring and hilarious.” Danny shared his life with his wife of many years, Tina; his three children, Janelle, Jared and Adam; and several grandchildren.

In his professional life, he retired from Sunmount DDSO and continued working for the state Department of Environmental Conservation at the Fish Creek campground. In his free time, he was an avid motorcyclist, snowmobiler and hunter.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Danny’s family. We’ll miss his passion and humor.
