Sunday, Sept. 8 was World Ampersand Day, so we’re thinking about our own Ampersands, including the Hotel Ampersand! While the first grand hotel building burned down in 1907, the property was operated as some form of lodging until it was acquired by the state in the early 1960s. Its last owners, Walter and Ivy Little, ran the property as a group of vacation cottages; this photograph shows a vacationing family during that era!
