Image of the Week

Friday was Norwegian Constitution Day, so we’re honoring our connection to Norway! During World War II, a group of Norwegian seamen trying to join the war effort in the U.S. were diagnosed with tuberculosis and came to cure in Saranac Lake. One of them was Lars K, who is seated in the first row, left, in this photograph. He and several other Norwegians cured at the Spear Cottage on (now) Riverside Drive.
