Image of the Week

It’s Leap Day, so we’re thinking of the leap-iest person in Saranac Lake history — Ed Lamy! Lamy was an international speed skating champion, and held the world record for barrel jumping (on ice skates!). In 1912, Lamy set the record by jumping 14 barrels, a grand total of 27 feet, 8 inches. This earned him recognition in “Ripley’s Believe it or Not,” and he still held this record when he died in 1962. How many barrels can you jump this Leap Day?
