Image of the Week

This week we celebrated Giving Tuesday, so we want to point out that monetary donations aren’t the only way you can support the museum (although they don’t hurt!). Our amazing donors to the collection are a huge part of what we do here. Whether you donate a photograph, a collection of postcards, or family films of Winter Carnival, we appreciate your contributions to our collections! This month alone, we have received donations of souvenir trinkets, cure chairs, radio recordings, Temming jewelry, stereoviews, and much more. Every day is different and exciting! This bi-fold postcard was given to us by one of our most prolific collections donors. Ann’s father worked at Ray Brook Sanatorium and she grew up on the grounds, so she has had a lifelong interest in the history of the sanatorium. Her amazing collection of postcards, photographs, and ephemera has helped us learn new stories, connect with more people, and share amazing history with you all! We are so thankful for your support, Ann! Have something you want to donate to the collection? Get in touch by sending us a message, or emailing our archivist/curator at chessie@historicsaranaclake.org. You can also visit our website to learn more about what we accept for the collection. We would love to talk to you more! (Photo provided — Historic Saranac Lake Collection, 2022.83.35. Gift of Ann Pecora Diamond.)
