12 days of Saranac Lake-mas … day 7
On the seventh day of Saranac Lake-mas, your Historic Saranac Lake gave to you … kids a-swimming on Lake Flower! The lake was formed in 1827 when Pliny Miller built the first dam across the Saranac River to power a sawmill. Lake Flower was eventually named for Gov. Roswell P. Flower, who helped secure funds to remove tree stumps from the lake to make it navigable for recreational purposes in the late 1800s.
