Art show

Cosmic Studio, a new art organization, will hold its inaugural exhibit in the Cantwell Room from Sept. 2 through Oct. 26. The exhibit features the work of Betty Boothe, Debra Smith and Leigh Ann Tahash. An opening reception will be held on Friday, Sept. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Great comedy

The 1934 movie “The Thin Man” starring William Powell and Myrna Loy, will be shown in the Cantwell Room on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. This black and white film has been described as a comedy, crime, drama, mystery and thriller.

Current Events Cafe

The Cafe, where good coffee and tea accompany congenial conversation about local, national and world events, will meet on the following Mondays from 10:30 a.m. to noon: Aug. 12, 19 and 26, and Sept. 2 and 9.

Chamber music

Loon Lake Live will present a free concert of chamber music for children of all ages on Saturdays, Aug. 10 and 17, at 10:30 a.m. in the children’s room.

Fiction Book Group

“Anna Karenina” by Leo Tolstoy is the book to be discussed when this group meets again in the Dickert Room at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Racism Study Group

When this group meets again on Monday, Sept. 16, they will begin a review of “Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom” by David Blight. The discussion will continue on Oct. 21.

Science Book Group

On Tuesday, Sept.17, this group will discuss “Milk! A 10,000 Year Food Fracas” by Mark Kurlansky.
