Carousel provides indoor activities

Every time I step into the Adirondack Carousel, I am in awe of the craftsmanship of each animal and the hand painted scenes surrounding its exterior. In addition to providing a unique experience, the carousel provides an expanded interior play area and games to idly pass the time away.

With options such as a Happiness Pass, Local Appreciate Pass, weekly pizza party, story time, and expanded play area, the Adirondack Carousel is providing that indoor space that can help break up those rainy, cold days.

Though birthday parties are a huge part of the carousel schedule, there are also special public events throughout the season. Weekly activities include the Friday Family Pizza Night from 5-6:30 pm where $25 yields a cheese or pepperoni pizza, unlimited carousel rides, and unlimited time in the play area. Wednesday mornings are for a 10:30 a.m. story time, which includes a snack, one carousel ride, and unlimited playtime for $5 (included for punchcard owners).

People come to take a quick spin or stay and use the play area for an additional fee. There are various price points, but for one ride the admission is just $2.50 while to Ride and Play is $5. The play area is a cozy designated section next to the carousel with puzzles, dress-up clothes, doll house, train table, and other items. There is an outside playground with swings that can be accessed at no cost. A Happiness Card provides 20 rides for $25 which includes the play area (nontransferable with an expiration date.)

The Carousel recently joined the Association of Children’s Museums Museum for All Initiative. An EBT card and valid ID provides a family of four with one carousel ride and unlimited play time for $1/family member. Autumn hours are Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from noon to 6:30 p.m. The carousel is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

The Adirondack Carousel has always provided a fun stopping place for us. I’ve brought visiting family of all ages to ride one the unique hand-carved, indigenous animals and handicap accessible boat or browsed the small store for a local gift.
