Phillip J. Wilsey
Phillip J. Wilsey of Middleburgh and Lake Placid, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025 at the age of 84, surrounded by his family. Born at home in Schoharie on May 26, 1941, Phillip was the son of Stanley and Marjorie (Keyser) Wilsey. A graduate of Schoharie High School, Phil spent his professional career as a commercial electrician. He moved to Lake Placid in 1979 and was the owner and operator of Cascade Electric Contracting and Cascade Electrical Supply in Lake Placid for 30 years. Phil loved the community and everyone who stopped to visit was treated like family. It was more about relationships than business for him.
Phil had many passions throughout his life, including rebuilding classic cars, NASCAR, the New York Yankees and trap shooting. If you visited Cascade Electric, you would find him in the garage. Over the years, he rebuilt a Chevelle, a Model A and a Chevrolet Pickup.
Phil loved going to car shows and events with his friends and family. A highlight of Phil’s life was the trips he took to Daytona with good friends and his sons, brother and nephews. He often told stories of those trips. Phil was a kind man, and he loved his family deeply. He always looked forward to the Keyser Family Reunions. Like his father, Phil was a Freemason. For the past 22 years, he was a member of Lake Placid Lodge No. 834, F&AM.
Phil is affectionately known as Dad, Pa, Pop, Grampa, Grampie, Brother and Uncle Phil.
He loved his family and friends deeply. Phil is survived by his brothers Gene (Linda) and John (Debbie); his sons Rory (Stacie) and Aaron (Jane), his step-children Penny (Hal) Schmidt and Robert Bruce; grandchildren Daniel (Moni) McClurg, Bryan (Shannah) Wilsey, Nichole (Anthony) Wilsey, Nicholas (Amanda) Wilsey, Kelsey (Alex) Bickford and Jessica (Cody) Lieberth; his brothers-in-law Pudge (Kelly) Conway and Anthony Conway; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Ellen (Bauers), the mother of his children and his second wife, Mary Ellen (Conway), the mother of his step-children, sisters Sandra Swartout and Linda Rivenburgh; step-son Gregory W. Bruce; and brothers-in-law Robert Rivenburgh and Lewis A. Conway.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside memorial service on June 6, 2026, at noon, nephew Johnathan Wilsey, Officiant, when Phil and Mary Ellen will be interned together at the North Elba Cemetery, Old Military Road in Lake Placid.
