Selman “Butch” Hajrulla Jr.

Selman “Butch” Hajrulla Jr., 81, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2025, at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid. He was born Dec. 11, 1943, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the son of the late Selman Hajrulla and Tahibe Runi. Butch and his family moved to Lake Placid in 1988.
Butch was the owner of Old Tyme Refrigeration and spent the next 30-plus years as a local appliance repairman before retiring in 2020. Butch was an avid lover of Harley Davidson motorcycles; he was excited every spring to watch the snow melt so he could take his first ride of the season. On occasion, he could be found catching up with friends in his favorite booth at Stewart’s, enjoying a hot cup of coffee.
Left to honor his good heart and cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Anita (Yarosis) Hajrulla of Lake Placid, his daughter, Amy Hajrulla and her partner Chris Ward of Lake Placid, grandsons Tyler Hinckley of Bloomingdale and Brody Hinckley of Lake Placid.
He is also survived by daughters Barbara Gregory of Florida, Judith Wolf of South Carolina and Donna Watson of Connecticut.
Butch was a beloved uncle to many nephews and nieces who were simply all his “favorite”.
He was predeceased by his siblings Sami Hajrulla of California, Qamile Blaettlein of Connecticut and Lule Macary of Connecticut.
His family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Elderwood for providing him kindness and care during his time there.
There are no services scheduled. In lieu of a funeral, the family invites you to make a donation in his honor the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice.
