Hallie Lou Ohmann

Hallie Lou Ohmann, age 94, of Saranac Lake, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid.

Hallie was born on Oct. 3, 1929 in Saranac Lake, the daughter of Alexander and Violet Mae (Duprey) Aubin. She married her lifelong love Raymond Ohmann on May 15, 1948 in Saranac Lake.

Hallie was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake where she was active with many interests. Hallie was known as an exemplary seamstress for over 40 years and was most proud of the wedding dresses she made, particularly the last one she made for Tracie. Hallie also loved to paint, cross stitch, crochet and do crafts as well as make quilts that she showed and sold at area craft events. She also loved to tend to her many flower gardens.

Hallie worked for several Saranac Lake businesses over the years including J.J. Newberry’s, The Decorator Shop and The Glove Factory.

Hallie is survived by her daughter Tracie Huyck and her son-in-law Russell Huyck, grandson Deryck Huyck and Lisa Smith who are expecting Hallie’s first great-grandchild in September, brother Alex (Sharon) Aubin and many nieces and nephews.

Hallie was preceded in death by her husband, her mother and father, her brother Norris, and her sisters Ann, Janice and Mary.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Saranac Lake, NY 12983. Calling hours are set for Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a memorial service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Andy Cruz-Lilligard officiating. Burial will immediately follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Saranac Lake, in the family lot.
