Joyce Ann (Buckson) Durett
Joyce Ann (Buckson) Durett, 68, a beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2024, at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont, surrounded by her family.
Born on Nov. 19, 1955, in Warren Ohio, she was the daughter of Ralph and Laura (Swinyer) Buckson.
Joyce’s life was a testament to her love of life, her family, the community and her outgoing and uplifting personality.
Joyce drove taxi for over 25 years in the Tri-Lakes area. She was best known for her beautiful attitude toward life and willingness to go out of her way to her to love and support everyone around her. Her love for people was apparent to all who knew her. Her smile and laughter could be heard and seen wherever she went.
Joyce is survived by her two children, Sherman and Kimberlee; three grandchildren, Alyssa, Brayden and Logan; and sister Carol and her three children, Mikie, Paulie and RiaVal. Her love was far-reaching and will live on through her family and myriad of friends.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Saranac Lake, NY 12983. A memorial to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday May 29 at the Fortune Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
