Joseph C. Briggs

On Sunday, May 26, 2024, Joseph (Joey) C. Briggs found peace as he passed away with his parents by his side.

At 44 years old, Joey is survived by his father Ronald Briggs (Theresa Lindsay); mother Martha Bournique (Doug Bournique); sisters Jenifer Briggs (Michael Mazzetti) and Liza Briggs (Jim Madden); and the mother to his four children, Heather Payton.

He was a proud and sensitive father to Hank, Holli, Logan and Benjamin Briggs, who were the loves of his life, and a fun loving uncle to Clara and Eleanor Boutelle, and Genevieve Madden.

Joey was raised in Lake Placid, where he developed many lifelong friendships. He had an inviting personality that allowed him to relate to all types of people. Everyone who met Joey loved him. He was an accepting friend, forming deep connections with people everywhere he went. He was charming, with infectious joy and boundless energy, and he had a gift for bringing fun (and fireworks) to every occasion.

Joey was hardworking and entrepreneurial, having started several businesses throughout his life. His determination led him to explore different ventures, reflecting his range of skills and interests. At the time of his death, he was running his own caretaking business, where his work ethic and penchant for building relationships stood out.

Through the donation of his organs, his legacy lives on in three recipients who are able to spend more time with their loved ones because of his gift. Our heartfelt thanks go to the doctors and staff at Adirondack Medical Center and Albany Medical Center who cared for Joey and our family with grace and compassion during his final days.

Visiting hours with Joey’s family will be held at the M.B. Clark, Inc. Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 7. A funeral Mass and celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 8 at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church in Lake Placid.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Addiction Treatment & Recovery Center, 159 Glenwood Dr., Saranac Lake, NY 12983.

Rest in peace, Joey.

The Briggs family would encourage relatives and friends to visit www.mbclarkfuneralhome.com to share a story about Joey, upload a photograph or leave condolences to be added to the Memorial Tribute Book for the family to cherish.
