Carleton J. Rivers

Born on Feb. 24, 1940, in Malone, he was the son of Walter and Evelyn (Gonyea) Rivers.

He married the former Candace B. Schenck on May 8, 1976, in Glens Falls.

Carl was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake where he owned and operated Rivers Trash Removal. He could often be found cheering on Saranac Lake Youth Sports or the New York Yankees. He will be greatly missed by many.

Carl is survived by his son Carleton J. (Cheryl) Rivers Jr.; granddaughters Shayla and Ciara Rivers and Ashton Storey; grandson Cedar; and great-grandson Elijah. He is also survived by two daughters from a previous relationship, Rebecca Leader and Tammy Dufraine.

Carl was predeceased by his wife Candy Rivers and his parents.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Saranac Lake. Calling hours are scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20 at the funeral home. A memorial service will take place at 5:30 p.m. with the Rev. Martin Cline officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in Pine Ridge Cemetery in the spring.
