Eleanor May Barney Rounds
Eleanor May Barney Rounds, 95, of Lake Placid, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022 in Rougemont, North Carolina. Eleanor had been residing in Rougemont, North Carolina for 20 years prior to her passing.
Eleanor was born in Lake Placid to Ora and Virginia (Heart) Barney on Oct. 3, 1926. She graduated from Lake Placid High School and worked a number of jobs before starting her family.
Eleanor is survived by her children Annette Beane of Lake Placid, Kathryn Sawyer of Lake Placid, Jeff Sears of Rougemont, North Carolina, and a step-daughter Mary Tagliarino of Palm Harbor, Florida. Eleanor’s family extended to 14 grandchildren, and many great, and great great grandchildren.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles Rounds; four brothers Orrie, Ernest, Ray, and Paul; as well as two sisters Alice and Pauline.
A memorial service is planned for later in the year to be held in Lake Placid.
