Richard J. Papineau

A funeral Mass for Richard J. Papineau, age 74, of Tupper Lake, will be held on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Church. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery following funeral services. Calling hours will be held earlier that day from 10 a.m. to noon at Frary-Stuart Funeral Home in Tupper Lake.

Mr. Papineau passed away late on the evening of Sept.13, 2021.

Richard is survived by his wife, Susan (Varden) Papineau; his daughters, Corrennia Rice, Stacey Papineau, Christy Papineau; his grandchildren, Chelsea (John) Schaffer, Joelle Bedore, Kylie McFadden, Braiden Martin, Denny Martin, Logan Morrow; and his great-grandchildren, Lance, Abel, and Winnie Schaffer.

He is predeceased by his parents Delbert and Edna (Trudell) Papineau; and his aunt Theresa Trudell.

Richard was born on March 3, 1947, in Tupper Lake, the son of the late Delbert and Edna (Trudell) Papineau. Richard married Susan Varden at his parents’ home on Nov. 11, 1978, with the Judge Tony Ellis officiating. Richard was employed at Sunmount DDSO as a mental hygiene therapy aide and was greatly respected and admired. Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army and National Guard and proudly served his country.

Richard enjoyed camping, collecting antiques, going to flea markets, wheeling and dealing, he enjoyed his pets dearly, and he was an avid Ham Radio and CB operator with the handle “Wildfire.”
