John Amoriell

John Amoriell, 109, of Tupper Lake, passed away at Mercy Living Center early Wednesday morning, July 14, 2021.

Born on Dec. 31, 1911, in Tupper Lake, he was the son of the late Samuel and Mary (Maglione) Amoriell.

John married the former Mildred Mary Exware at Holy Name Church on Sept. 11, 1937, with the Rev. Raymond Fitzpatrick officiating. She predeceased him on Aug. 1, 2010, after 72 years of marriage.

John was employed in railroad work by New York Central and later Penn Central from 1936 until his retirement in 1968. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Division.

John enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son Sam. He also enjoyed being with family and friends.

Survivors include his son Samuel Amoriell of Tupper Lake; daughter, Annette Johnson (Peter) of Camillus; two grandchildren, Mary Lou Karasek (Thomas) of Baldwinsville, and Linda Lee (Joseph), of Minoa; great-grandchildren Nicholas, Rachel, Christopher and Gavin; and many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by brothers Patsy, Martin, Peter, James and Frank; sister Mary (Malerba); grandson, Stephen Amoriell; and a daughter-in-law Gloria Amoriell.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 22 at Frary-Stuart Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 23 at St. Alphonsus Church. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery following funeral services.
