Josie J. Perks

She was born in Elizabethtown on July 28, 1925, daughter of the late Kelly and Verda (Sunderland) McDougal.

Josie worked at the Northwood Club and the Lake Placid Club for many years. She also was a mentor at the Lake Placid grade school. Josie was a very patient person and loved people. Josie was a foster mother for several area children.

Josie is survived by her daughter Barbara Buysse and her husband Ronald of Vernon, Connecticut; two grandsons, Ron and Stacy of Willington, Connecticut, and Jeffrey and Michelle of Wethersfield, Connecticut; great-grandchildren Breeanna, Taylor, Jeffrey and Joseph; her sister Dale Smith of Wilmington; and many nieces and nephews. Josie is predeceased by her husband Frank Perks, longtime companion Albert “Bingo” Hanson, her sister Pheobe, and her brothers Kalvin and Johnny.

Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Activity Department at Elderwood of Uihlein, 185 Military Road, Lake Placid, NY 12946.
