Sandra J. Daby

Sandra J. Daby, 72, of Lake Placid passed away on April 27, 2021, unexpectedly after suffering a stroke.

Sandra was born on Nov. 27, 1948, to Horace A. Pratt and Gertrude Tucker in Lake Placid. Sandra was a graduate of Lake Placid High School, Class of 1968, and after graduation she went on to Business Trade School in Utica. After graduation from Utica, she landed her first job with American Management Association in Saranac Lake. She is better known for her time working at Fay’s Drug and Eckard Drug in the pharmacy department.

In 1968, she met Dale Daby, and they were married March 14, 1970. She and Dale raised three children: Donna, Dawn and Stefanie. After retiring in 1999, Sandra spent her time camping at the family-owned cabin in Lake Placid, taking their camper to the Finger Lake region, doing crafts especially plastic canvas, reading and spending time with her grandkids. Sandra is also a breast cancer survivor.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents Horace and Gertrude Pratt; two brothers, Horace Pratt and Neil Pratt; her mother-in-law Eva Daby Pelkey; her father-in-law Stanley Pelkey; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law David and Nita Daby. She is survived by her husband Dale; her three daughters: Donna Daby, Dawn Fitzpatrick (Timothy) and Stefanie Daby-Pabins (Christopher); three grandsons: Garrett Woodruff, Timothy Fitzpatrick Jr. and Cormac Fitzpatrick; her step-grandson Riley Pabins and her step-granddaughter Lily Pabins; her sister Joan Ormsby and her brother Kent Pratt, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held at the M.B. Clark Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid Saturday, May 1. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., with a funeral service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Derek Hansen pastor of the Adirondack Community Church will officiate. Burial will follow at the North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid. A reception will be held at 6012 Sentinel Road following burial.
