Margaretha Miller Vinograd

Margaretha Miller Vinograd passed away on April 2, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Meg (her preferred nickname) was born to Gilmore Law and Mathilda Margaretha Miller in Brooklyn on Aug. 16, 1950. She married the love of her life, Jon Franklin Vinograd, in 1975. Together they had three children, whom they raised in Saranac Lake. Always an extrovert, she loved her job as a speech therapist. She ran a private practice while also working with clients in schools, hospitals, Sunmount and nursing homes, and teaching at SUNY Plattsburgh.

Meg cherished her family and friends. Guests were always welcome into her home, be it for the afternoon, for dinner, or — in the case of the many exchange students she hosted — for months on end until they, too, became part of the Vinograd family. She took great delight in small-town life and deeply appreciated the beauty of the Adirondacks.

She is survived by her husband and their children: Alexandra Miller Vinograd (Steven Ujifusa), Erika Vinograd Osborne (Eric) and Ross David Vinograd (Erica); her grandchildren: Julia Osborne, Wes and Cole Vinograd, and Isaac and Max Ujifusa; her sister and dearest friend, Doris Jane Shapiro; and her doting nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. She will be remembered for always bringing the entire feast to any potluck, her over-the-top care packages, and most of all her warmth and kindness.

The memorial service will be private due to the global pandemic. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saranac Lake Youth Center, P.O. Box 1003, Saranac Lake, NY, 12983, where she volunteered.
