Mary Jo (Keith) Rohe

Mary Jo (Keith) Rohe, age 64, of Vermontville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021.

Born in Saranac Lake on May 2, 1956, she was the daughter of Patrick and Mary Ellen (Goff) Keith.

A lifetime resident of Vermontville, Mary Jo was a multi-talented florist, candy maker, crafter, gardener and poet. She had been employed at the VIC, Adirondack Medical Center, Trudeau Institute, HOTT House and Saranac Lake Central School District, and often could be found at craft shows and bazaars. If Mary Jo could have found a way to feed the world, she would have. Every fall she would be seen with her husband Roger and the Fifth Quarter Club feeding countless numbers of football players, families and supporters. In the spring they were a staple at every track meet, keeping bellies full and spirits high. She volunteered countless hours at the St. Paul’s food pantry and was always available to lend a hand when needed. She and Roger were inducted into the Saranac Lake High School Hall of Fame for their contributions and support of Saranac Lake athletics.

Of all Mary Jo’s passions, foremost was her family. A dedicated daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she will forever be remembered for her glowing smile, strength, compassion and courage to face any obstacle in her path.

Survivors include two sons and their families: Scott, Tiffany and children Connor, Piper and Makenna Shanty-Rohe of Gabriels; and Shawn, Jamie and son Blake Patrick Rohe of Saranac Lake. She is also survived by siblings James and Rita Keith, Robert and Joannie Keith, Art Keith and Sheri Eaton, Sara and George Besaw, Kathleen and Bradley Merrill, Elizabeth Baldwin, Barbara Talley and brother in-law Dennis Muzzy; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Roger A. Rohe, sister Susan Muzzy, brother in-law Charles Baldwin, and neice Alnee Baldwin-Bailey.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Saranac Lake, NY 12983. At Mary Jo’s request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Union Cemetery in Vermontville at the convenience of the family.
