Loretta Charlotte Kelly

Loretta was born to the late Vivian and Flora (Winch) Patterson on Aug. 11, 1921, in Lake Placid. She married Stanley Kelly on Oct. 21, 1944, and spent 56 years together until his passing in November of 2000. In addition to her parents and husband, Loretta was predeceased by her sisters Mary Dudley and Rena Patterson, and her brother Albert Patterson.

After many years of service at Santa’s Motel and Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodge, Loretta retired to her home to tend to her garden, make quilts for family and friends, and complete puzzles. On a sunny day Loretta could also be found walking the River Road with her friend and cousin Catherine “Tootie” Gonyea, and she was a devout member of the Adirondack Community Church.

Loretta is survived by her children: Yvonne (Gary) Dame, Esther Lawrence and Gordon (Jackie) Kelly; six grandchildren; Sherry, Kim and Scott Dame, Burt and Debbie Lawrence and Devin (Jessica) Kelly. There are 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Calling hours will be held at M.B. Clark Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid on Friday, May 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. The funeral service will be held on the following day, Saturday, May 29, at 10 a.m. at the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid. Burial will follow at the North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid.
