Anna Ethel Johnson

Anna Ethel Johnson passed away peacefully on Feb. 17, 2021. She was 85. She was born in New York City to Anna and Oliver Grotenfelt.

She is reunited in heaven with her daughter Lisa Johnson Mclean, husband Sven V. Johnson, son-in-law Frank Scsigulinsky, son-in-law Michael Mclean and grandson Tristan Mclean Ann grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut, and moved to Wilmington with her husband Sven V. Johnson and their three daughters in 1965, and it was there where they opened and operated the A&W drive-in seasonally for many years.

Ann ran the nursery school program at the Marcy in Lake Placid and played piano on Sundays at the Episcopal church. She later began taking college classes at North Country Community College, where she graduated with a nursing degree. She worked as an licensed practical nurse at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake on Medical 2 for many years. She also worked as an LPN at Elderwood of Uihlein. Ann moved to Boca Raton, Florida, and worked as an LPN in a Finish Hospital for two years. She decided to return to Wilmington in 2002.

Ann loved her family. She loved being a nurse and caring for others. She loved to read. She loved movies. She loved to dance. She loved yard sales and the Wilmington Riverside Thrift Shop. She loved taking long rides in the car. She was loved by everyone who met her.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lori Hoffman and Linda Johnson (John Morrison); her grandchildren: Tucker, Troy (Cameron Shipman), Jacob (Camillo), Zachary (Andrea) and Alycia; and four great-grandchildren: Sienna, Evelyn, Lillian and Leo Troy Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 1 at 11 a.m. at Pleasant View Cemetery in Wilmington, with a gathering following at the Wilmington beach.
