Sandra Ann ‘Sandy’ Ducatt

Sandra Ann “Sandy” Ducatt, age 72, of Lake Clear died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake following a brief illness.

Sandra was born in Saranac Lake on March 24, 1948, the daughter of Richard and Grace (Patnode) Wilkins. She married the love of her life, Richard Ducatt, at St. John’s in the Wilderness Church in Lake Clear on April 20, 1968.

Sandra was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake and worked as a school teacher for Christian Center Academy for many years. Sandy loved her Lord and Savior Jesus, and it showed in how she lived her life. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, but also was perfectly content to sit and enjoy quiet. She was the most patient person one could ever have met. If there was ever anyone in need of a friend to talk to or to sit and wait in a hospital waiting room while their loved one was in surgery, Sandy was always there. She loved her daily Facetime calls with her youngest grandbaby, Kai, in Hawaii. Her older grandsons loved spending time with her, whether it be on car rides as she carted them to work or church events, or over a McDonald’s meal — Gramma’s treat, of course. They loved that she let them pick the music and play it as loud as they wanted, and many conversations and small talk about anything and everything happened on these car rides and meals. She’s also fondly remembered for sitting in her chair in the front yard in the hot sun “getting her vitamin D for the day,” for her amazing baking abilities — her pies are famous to her friends and family — for her love of Hallmark movies, Max Lucado books, and when Super Bowl time came around, we all knew she was rooting for the Broncos!

Sandra is survived by her husband Pastor Richard Ducatt; three sons: James and Michael (Sheri) Ducatt of Saranac Lake and Dennis (Katie) Ducatt of Kahului, Hawaii; and seven grandchildren: Bethany, Matthew, Issac, John “Kai,” Elijah, Levi and Jonah.

Sandra was preceded in death by her daughter Christine and her parents Richard and Grace Wilkins.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. At Sandra’s request, there will be no calling hours. Funeral services and burial at St. John’s in the Wilderness Cemetery will be private and at a date and time convenient for the family.
