Roger ‘Luke’ LaClair

Roger “Luke” LaClair, 86, of Tupper Lake peacefully passed away at Mercy Living Center on Nov. 11, 2020.

Luke was born in Sutton, Vermont, on March 4, 1934, to Roy and Winona (Niles) LaClair. After proudly serving in the U.S. Marines from 1953-1956, he returned to Tupper Lake and after a short time opened what was known as Luke’s Mobil Station. Aside from spending time with his family, he loved his hunting weekends at Buck-A-Year Club, where he was a member for years. In the summer months, he enjoyed playing in the Tuesday NightMen’s League at the Tupper Lake Golf Course.

He is survived by his wife Louella, whom he reacquainted with and married 53 years after their prom date. He is also survived by his son Dean of Tupper Lake, his granddaughters Rebecca Murphy and Sarah Filion, his grandson Maxwell, two great-grandchildren Logan and Laila Murphy, and several nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Neil and sister Barbara (LaClair) Pickering.

For those who knew him, he will be remembered as an honest, hard-working gentleman. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix, a person he wouldn’t help or an argument he would accept losing.

Rest in peace, Luke.

Services for Roger will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary-Stuart Funeral Home, Tupper Lake.

Donations in Roger’s memory can be made to the Tupper Lake Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Squad, 169 Main St., Tupper Lake, NY 12986.
