Lucille F. Beideck

Lucille F. Beideck, 100, of Saranac Lake, passed away on Nov. 12, 2020, with her son by her side at Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake.

Lucille was born March 9, 1920, to Harold and Elsie Bartlett Haskell in the town of Pembroke. She graduated salutatorian from Corfu High School and received a degree from Rochester Business Institute. She was first employed by Genesee County in the Welfare Department and later the county clerk’s office in Batavia. Lucille spent the majority of her career working for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1980 after 25 years of service.

Lucille and Alton enjoyed 76 years of marriage, having wed on Oct. 16, 1942. They moved to Saranac Lake in 1992 to be closer to family and spent many happy winters with friends in Haines City, Florida. Over the past 10 years, they were very fortunate to have lived at the Saranac Village at Will Rogers, surrounded by friends and caring staff members.

Lucille delighted in spending time with her family and took great pride in each and every member. Much of her joy was rooted in her caregiving to her husband, children and grandchildren, always present for important occasions and remembering every important date. Lucille enjoyed the relationships she built with friends and family playing golf, board games and card games. Her family most enjoyed her warmth and sense of humor, and admired her quiet strength and resilience. Lucille had an incredibly joyful 100th birthday celebration with family and friends this past March, made possible by the wonderful staff at Will Rogers.

She is predeceased by her sister Eleanor and husband Alton. Lucille is survived by a daughter, Marian Roth (Joe) of Saratoga Springs, and a son, Alan Beideck (Ellen) of Saranac Lake; grandsons Aaron Roth (Maria), Jesse Roth (Mary) and Alex Beideck; and granddaughters Alissa Beideck Landry (Robby) and Elena Beideck. Lucille had four great-grandchildren: Quinn, Cassidy, Hadley and Maya. She is also survived by step-granddaughter JoAnn Cassidy and step-great-grandchildren Braydon and Paige, as well as beloved nieces and nephews.
