Patrick ‘Pat the Painter’ W. O’Dell

Patrick “Pat the Painter” W. O’Dell, age 64, of Saranac Lake, died Monday, Oct. 19, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Born in AuSable Forks on July 17, 1956, he was the son of Eugene and Genevieve (Havens) O’Dell.

Pat grew up and attended schools in AuSable Forks. He has worked as a painter for over 35 years, working for various individuals and area businesses. He has worked for the past 10 years for Cascade Builders in Saranac Lake. Pat loved playing pool at the Rusty Nail in Saranac Lake and riding his Harley.

He is survived by his longtime companion Tammy Martin and her children Melinda, John and Justin of Saranac Lake; one brother, Eugene O’Dell Jr. of Saranac Lake; two sisters, Linda St. John of Saranac Lake and Nancy Ann O’Dell of Oneonta; several nieces and nephews including Desiree, Rob, Chris, Frank, Charlyn, Shawn and Dawn; and his beloved dog Bear. He was preceded in death by his parents; one niece, Michelle St. Amand; and his grandparents Julia and George Havens and William and Edna O’Dell.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake.

Please note: Due to COVID-19 restrictions and in order to better safely accommodate Patrick’s family and friends, the family will receive friends at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake on Thursday, Oct. 22 from 5 to 7 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following at 7 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Martin Cline officiating. Family and friends attending in-person calling hours and funeral services are asked to please follow all COVID-19 recommendations, including social distancing and wearing a mask. Due to the extenuating circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, the O’Dell family understands that it may make it difficult for some to attend. For those unable to attend, the funeral service will also be webcast on Fortune-Keough Funeral Home’s Facebook page at 7 p.m. Burial will take place at Holy Name Cemetery in AuSable Forks at a later date.
