Candice Bell Rivers

Candice Bell Rivers, age 70, of Saranac Lake, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020, at University of Vermont Medical Center.

Born in Saranac Lake on May 7, 1950, she was the daughter of Ingelton and Marie (Bell) Schenck. Candice married Carlton Rivers Sr. on May 8, 1976, in Glens Falls.

Candy was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake and had worked at the American Management Association for 48 years. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Saranac Lake, Saranac Lake, and especially loved going to watch her grandson play baseball.

She is survived by her husband Carlton Rivers of Saranac Lake; one son, Carlton (Chheryl) Rivers II of Saranac Lake; four grandchildren: Shayla, Cedar and Ciara Rivers and Ashton Bushey; one brother, Tony Schenck of Saranac Lake; two sisters, Eileen (Reggie) Bishop of Tupper Lake and Karen Ormsby of New Port Richey, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are set to take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Tuesday, Oct. 13 from 4 to 6 p.m. A funeral service is set to immediately follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Joanne White officiating. Family and friends attending in person are asked to please follow all COVID-19 recommendations including social distancing and wearing a mask. Candy’s family understands that the extenuating circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic may make it difficult for some to attend. The funeral service will also be webcast on Fortune-Keough Funeral Home’s Facebook page at 6 p.m.

Burial will take place in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Saranac Lake at a later date.
