Rolfe Joseph ‘Joe’ Woodruff

Rolfe Joseph “Joe” Woodruff, 74, of Saranac Lake, passed away on Friday evening May 1, 2020, after a long battle with multiple health issues.

Joe was born on July 5, 1945, in Dallas, Texas, to Russ and Mary Woodruff.

Joe had a huge passion for riding and fixing his motorcycles as well as exploring the back roads while fishing and hunting. He loved traveling and had many adventures with so many close friends. Everyone who knew Joe loved him. But most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. A long-lasting memory and tradition for them all was blueberry picking when the season came around every year. He had passion for classic cars and loved driving his hot rod around town with the windows down. Joe also loved spending time at his favorite place in town, D.J.’s Rustic Restaurant, a long tradition of Saturday morning breakfast that he’s since passed down to the rest of his kin. He made an impression on every person he met. He will be deeply missed by all.

Joe is survived by his sister Judy of Bloomingdale, his brothers Bill (Kathy) Woodruff of North Carolina, Bonnie (Bob) Macintyre of North Carolina, Wayne Woodruff of Saranac Lake, Ronnie (Sabrina) Woodruff of New Jersey, Janet (Terry) Varment of Saranac Lake, Mike (Laurie) Woodruff of Saranac Lake and Eric (Jessie) Woodruff of Colorado. He had a longtime relationship with Marilyn Spencer of Saranac Lake. Joe is also survived by his children Mark Woodruff of Massachusetts, Brock (Jodi) Woodruff of Saranac Lake, Bly (Terry) Flyte of Lake Placid, Heather Moynihan of Saranac Lake, Travis (Nina) Woodruff of Washington and Tye (Molly) Woodruff of Bloomingdale; his grandchildren Shiloh, Zack, Ariah, Harley, Jenna, Chase, Drake, Tessa, Gabe, Ava, Revin, Tullie, Ridge, Taelyn, Zona and Joe; and one great-grandchild, Layken.

In addition to his mother and father, Joe was preceded in death by his wife Judy Woodruff of Saranac Lake.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. The family has decided to throw a celebration-of-life party in his memory on July 4. Further information will be posted at a later date.
