Mya L. Duprey

Mya L. Duprey, 68, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 3, 2020, at Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake.

She was born on Oct. 28, 1952, in Saranac Lake to Helen and James Strack.

She was a 1972 graduate of Saranac Lake Central High School. She married Charles “Cubby” Duprey on Oct. 25, 1975. She retired as an account clerk and Section 8 coordinator for Harrietstown Housing Authority, forming wonderful connections to the families and senior citizens with whom she worked. Mya truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: playing cards, bowling, crocheting, and just spending time with family, friends and her dog, Lucky.

She was widowed by her husband Charles Duprey and predeceased by her partner Gary Martin. She was also predeceased by her brothers George, Thomas, Wesley and Richard. She is survived by her three sons: Charlie Duprey of Saranac Lake, James Duprey of Boston, Massachusetts, and Larry Duprey of Moses Lake, Washington. She is also survived by her siblings: Dawn Boula of Bloomingdale, Gerald Strack of Florida, Edward Strack of Phoenix, Arizona, and Eugene Strack of Albany; and an aunt, Kathy Strack of Lake Clear; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Family, friends, and others whose lives Mya touched are invited to a burial service at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in the spring (to be determined) to reminisce, grieve, support each other and celebrate her life.

Friends wishing to remember Mya may make a donation in her name to the Tri-Lakes Humane Society or the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department in care of the funeral home. Family and friends can also share their memories and sign the online guest book at fortunekeoughfuneralhome.com.
