June M. Riley

June M. Riley, 84, of Saranac Lake, died Monday Dec. 23, 2019, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born in Bennington, Vermont, on Sept. 23, 1935, she was the daughter of Frederick and Loretta (Marcoux) LaFranchise. June married Charles “Chic” Riley on June 27, 1959; Charles predeceased her on Oct. 31, 2015, after 56 years of marriage.

Mrs. Riley graduated from nursing school in Albany and worked as a pediatric nurse at St. Catherine’s infant home until her marriage, when she moved to Saranac Lake. She worked as a teacher’s aide at St. Bernard’s School before joining the Saranac Lake Central School system, spending much of career at the BOCES campus.

Mrs. Riley is survived by two sons: Thomas F. Riley, MD, of Buffalo and Patrick C. Riley of Vermontville; three grandchildren: Brian J. Riley, Brittany Riley and their mother Jodie Mott, who was the daughter she never had, as well as Chace Riley; in addition, two great-grandchildren, Mason Quinn and Cali Quinn; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by infant sons, Brian and Stephen Riley, and a sister, Sandra Young of Bennington, Vermont.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Saturday, Dec. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a prayer service at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Kelly officiating. Burial will take place in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
