Kathleen A. Kennedy

Kathleen A. Kennedy, 91, of Saranac Village at Will Rogers died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Kathleen was born on June 5, 1928, in Redford, the daughter of Fred and Florence (Howard) Bell. Kathleen married Paul F. Kennedy on Sept. 10, 1949, in Bloomingdale. He predeceased her in 1993.

Kathleen graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1944 and from New York State Teachers College in 1948 with a degree in business education. Kathleen was amazing mother and grandmother who lived her life to the fullest. She had been employed as a business (commercial) teacher at Westport High School from 1948 to 1949. She was a religious education coordinator and a manager at the Tri-Lakes Federal Credit Union in Saranac Lake. Kathleen was a lifelong resident of the Saranac Lake area. In addition to spending time with her family, Kathleen enjoyed cooking and reading, and her greatest love was travel across and outside the United States. Everyone who knew her remembers her warm smile, her witty charm, her deep kindness and her sharp intelligence.

Kathleen is survived by her two daughters: Patricia A. (David B.) Smith of Connecticut and Debbie Kennedy, M.D. (Martin F. Moriarty) of Castleton-on-the-Hudson; one son, Roger (Sooji Park), of California; and one granddaughter, Sarah Smith of Boston, Massachusetts.

Kathleen was predeceased by her mother and father and her beloved husband.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. Calling hours are set for Friday, Nov. 15 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church in Bloomingdale with Msgr. C.J. McAvoy and Fr. John Yonkovig officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the family plot in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Bloomingdale. Memorial donations in Kathleen’s memory can be made to the Saranac Lake Free Library in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Saranac Lake, NY 12983.
