Glenn Scott Magee

Glenn Scott Magee passed away Aug. 5, 2019, in Cottonwood, Arizona. Scott had resided in Camp Verde, Arizona, for the past two years.

He was borne on Oct. 9, 1940, in Saranac Lake to Josephine Ella Morello Magee and Glenn Kirkland Magee.

Scott graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1957. He was in the Army National Guard from Oct. 15, 1957, to July 1, 1958. He enlisted into the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged on Oct. 10, 1958. When he returned home, he met and married Donna Hoyt on June 3, 1967. They had four children.

Scott was employed by Madden’s Transfer and Storage for many years. He eventually went to Geneseo University to receive his bachelor’s degree in psychology. He then became employed at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation Center in Saranac Lake.

He lived in many places but finally settled in Camp Verde, Arizona, with his beloved cat Noel. He was involved with the foster grandparent program in the Camp Verde School District. He was also a tutor at the Northern University of Arizona.

Scott was survived by his children: Todd Hoyt of Casa Grande, Arizona, Jodi Mott of Saranac Lake, Michael Magee of Saranac Lake and Bryan Magee of Bloomingdale; their mother Donna Magee of Lake Clear; his grandchildren: Brian Riley, Brittany Riley, Jenny Mott, Kaitlyn Magee and Hunter Magee; his two great-grandchildren: Mason Quinn and Cali Quinn; his sister Jerry Fearnley; many nieces and nephews; and his dear friend Richard Perez of Cottonwood, Arizona.

He was predeceased by his parents Josephine and “Fibber” Magee, a sister Roslyn C. Reynolds and a brother Barry E. Magee.

A service will be held 5 p.m. on Oct. 9 at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
