Margaret E. Lewis

Margaret Ella (Strack) Lewis was reunited with her late husband, Calvin C. Lewis Sr., on July 9, 2019, after a brief stay at Elderwood of Uhlein at Lake Placid.

Margaret was born June 17, 1929, the second child born to Leon and Lena Strack. She was blessed to have six sisters and six brothers.

Margaret is predeceased by her twin sister, Marion Graham, and sisters, Joan Strack and Sally Gilmore, along with brothers William, Robert, and Leon Strack Jr.

Margaret recently celebrated her 90th birthday with family and friends where she did what she loved to do; entertained all of her guests by playing the piano.

Margaret lived most of her life in Lake Placid. She began playing the piano at a very young age and continued to play at various establishments in the Tri-Lakes area throughout her lifetime. Margaret loved playing BINGO and developed many long-lasting friendships because of it. She also loved to bowl and was still an active bowler to the age of 89 in the local ladies’ Toppers League!

Margaret is survived by her six children: Deborah Cink (Jack) of Itasca, Texas, Calvin Lewis Jr. (Kathy) of Lake Placid, Tom Lewis (Jill) of Prescott, Arizona, Marc Lewis of Lake Placid, Jeff Lewis of Lake Placid, and Angela Escobar (Dana) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Margaret has eight grandchildren: Rachel Stanton, Travis Lewis, Nicole Lewis, Trisha Lewis, Michael Lewis, Zachary Smith, Josh Lewis, and Dante Escobar.  Margaret was also the proud great grandmother of 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by six siblings: Shirley Lamoy(Ray), Linda Hill (Donald), Richard Strack (Nancy), Thomas Strack (Hannah), Constance Hill, Francis Strack (Terry), and sister-in-law Cheryl Strack. Margaret also had many nieces, nephews, and cousins she was proud to call family.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 12 at the M. B.  Clark Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Agnes Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 13. The Rev. Paul Kelly will officiate.

Relatives and friends are invited to share a memory or leave condolences at www.mbclarkfuneralhome.com.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of sending flowers, please consider making a small donation to the Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service.
