Wayne A. Lacey

Wayne Lacey of Orlando, Florida, and formerly of Lake Clear was reunited with the Lord and his beloved wife Jan. 23, 2019. He was born in Plattsburgh on Jan. 5, 1955. Wayne grew up in Lake Clear and always considered it his home. He often spoke very fondly of his life in Lake Clear.

At the age of 17, Wayne joined the Marines, where he learned to repair firearms and was in charge of the armory at various bases he was stationed. During his duty at Twentynine Palms, California, he was involved in a car accident that left him a quadriplegic. He retired from the Marines and returned to Lake Clear. After a couple of rocky years adjusting to his new life, he was introduced to his soulmate Socorro. They were married Jan. 14, 1984.

Wayne and Socorro enjoyed hunting and fishing and were active in their churches, both in Florida and in Saranac Lake. Wayne was passionate about Jesus and would witness to friends and family the importance of being born again. They were instrumental in supporting the construction of the Compassion Global Church located in Pangasinan, Philippines.

Wayne leaves behind his sister Karen Pittman of Lake Clear and his brothers William (Theresa) Barrow of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Tim Lacey of Tupper Lake and Gerald (Diana) Lacey of Manlius.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Socorro, his parents Thetis and James Barrow and Herbert Lacey.

A service will take place at the Osceola Bible Church in Orlando Feb. 24. A local service and burial will take place in June with Pastor Harold Clark officiating.
