Nathan L. Manning

Nathan L. Manning joined the angels in heaven on Thursday. Nov. 15, 2018. He passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Nathan was born Nov. 7, 1960, in Saranac Lake to Beverly Manning.

On May 18, 1996, Nate married Sharon Aiken at St. Ann’s Church in St. Regis Falls.

Nate was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting and camping. He especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to music and telling stories.

Nate was a past member of the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department, retiring as first assistant chief after volunteering for more than 20 years. Nate worked as a chef at the Hilton in Lake Placid for 20 years and retired from the Olympic Training Center due to illness.

He is survived by his wife Sharon; his mother Beverly; three sisters: Charlotte and her companion Brian of Lake Placid, Lorraine of Lake Placid, and Dawn and her companion David of Evans City, Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother Marvin Jr. and his beloved fur daughter Autumn Sunshine.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, Nov. 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department prayer service at 7:45 p.m. at the M.B. Clark Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid. A funeral service will be held Monday, Nov. 19 at 11 a.m. at the Adirondack Community Church, Main Street, Lake Placid. The Rev. Derek Hansen will officiate. Cremation will follow.

The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, relatives and friends make donations in his memory to the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department or High Peaks Hospice and Palliative Care.
