Major Day Jr.

He is survived by his brother Peter of Tupper Lake, former wife Kathleen, his children Lisa and Bruce, and grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, Martha and Major, and sister Barbara.

Major graduated from Saranac Lake High School, where he was given special treatment by the principal to check his traps and arrive late to school; that knowledge of the outdoors led to a 30-year career for the state Department of Environmental Conservation in the Wildlife Department. A member of the No-Mis Club in Conifer for decades, he always enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.

His appreciation of guide boats was a constant theme throughout his life, refinishing, racing, and trading.

All who befriended him will miss his skill as a raconteur, his infectious laugh and his smile.
