Robert ‘Bob’ Walsh

Robert “Bob” Walsh, prominent Saranac Laker who was president of the American Management Association’s office from 1982 to ’92 and who was the Saranac Lake Citizen of the Year in 1989, died May 6, 2015, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease in Summerfield, Florida, where he and his wife Terri had retired in 1992. He was 84.

In Saranac Lake, Walsh served as president of the chamber of commerce, a member of the Elks Club and a board member of public television station WCFE; he coached Pee Wee hockey and played in the city’s fast-pitch softball league, being named to the All-Star team in 1957.

Walsh was predeceased by his parents, Imogene R. Walsh and John H. Walsh, and two siblings: John R. Walsh, a professionall figure skater who was Sonja Heine’s partner, and Alice Kennedy, also a professional figure skater with “Holiday on Ice” who later owned and operated Applause, a women’s “after five” clothing boutique in New Hope, Pennsylvania.

His second brother, Gene Walsh, a retired NBC executive, lives in Burbank, California.

Walsh and his first wife, Shirley McMillian Walsh, have two children: Whitney and Bridget, who live in Virginia.
