James C. Carpenter

James Charles Carpenter, 45, of Lake Placid, formerly of Corning, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, in the comfort of his home.

Jim was born Feb. 6, 1969, in Corning to the late James D. and Arlene S. (Sweeney) Carpenter. He married Pamela (Pearce) Carpenter on May 11, 2002, in Horseheads.

Jim worked for the Mountain Lake Academy in Lake Placid as a residential councilor. Among his many accomplishments, his latest was his graduation from RIT after earning his master’s degree. Being an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing and hiking.

Jim was a member of the New Hope Church in Lake Placid, where he served as a deacon. Everyone who met him knew he was a praying man, devoted to God and his wife, Pam.

Jim is survived by his wife, Pamela M. Carpenter; mother Arlene Carpenter; sister Bonnie Lee Carpenter Wigsten (Brad) and sister Peggy Ann Carpenter Shaff (Dale); many nieces and nephews; and his special canine friend, Sonny Boy.

In addition to his father, he was predeceased by all of his grandparents and his sister Robin Kay Carpenter.

There will be a memorial service to remember Jim at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 at the New Hope Church, 207 Station St., Lake Placid.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pamela Carpenter, 89 Greenwood St., Apt. #203, Lake Placid, NY 12946, to offset medical expenses.
