Roy C. (Swingle) Finn

GREECE, N.Y. – Roy C. (Swingle) Finn, born Dec. 24, 1915, passed away May 26, 2014, at age 98.

He was predeceased by his wife, Lois, and grandsons Jack and Jeff. He is survived by his son, Don (Barb), and daughters Patti (Larry) Bandolin and Peg (Sandy) Swingle. He is also survived by grandchildren Sue (Paul) Shays, Bonnie Bandolin, Kari (Joe Zorn) Finn, Sandy (Mark) Makara and Paul (Jackie) Finn; plus several great- and great-great-grandchildren and longtime special friends, Bev Allardice and Alice Sullivan.

Roy was a gentleman and a gentle man who lived a life of honesty, integrity and strong moral character. He was a little man with a great big heart. He was born in Canada, grew up in Saranac Lake and settled in Rochester in the 1940s. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army in Europe. He worked at Rochester Products as a tool and die maker and in 1976 retired as general foreman of the Tool and Die Department. He was an avid golfer and a talented stained glass and woodworking craftsman.

Please light a candle in Roy’s honor, and his light will continue to shine in the lives of all who knew him. Special thanks to the staffs at the Landing and Beikirch Care Center in Brockport who always treated Roy with care and respect.

Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today, followed by his funeral service at 12:30 p.m. at the Farrell-Ryan Funeral Home, 777 Long Pond Road (between English and Latta) in Rochester. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Good Days and Special Times, 1332 Pittsford-Mendon Road, Mendon, NY 14506.
