Janet E. Place
VERMONTVILLE – Janet Ellen Place, 81, of Pine Grove Lane, passed away on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
She was born in Orinda, Calif. on April 25, 1932 the daughter of Lloyd L. and Princess A. (Morgan) Farrar.
Janet was raised in Orinda, Calif. and worked for the Antioch Post Office for 10 years. She later moved to upstate New York in July 1985, where she was co-owner of the Pine Grove Inn Restaurant in Loon Lake. The Pine Grove served the famous California Burgers.
Janet was a huge influence in her grandchildren, Austin and Logan’s lives.
Survivors include two daughters: DeEllen K. Wood and Bette Ellen Keesler; two sons: Albert W. Vielbaum and Robert Vielbaum; 13 grandchildren, including grandsons, Austin E.L. Wood and Logan A.R. Wood; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Ernest R. Place.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
