MaryLou Duffy

MaryLou Duffy, 72, of Lake Placid, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013 at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, after a long battle with Parkinson’s.

She was born on Nov. 28, 1941 in Lake Placid to Albert and Thelma Fellows LaPlante.

MaryLou work for Howard Johnson’s (HoJo’s) as a waitress for 30 years, (also where she met her husband off of the midnight shift). She retired in 1998. MaryLou married Robert W. Duffy in 1975 in Lake Placid. They were happily married for 38 years.

MaryLou was a member of St. Agnes’ Church. She enjoyed knitting for North Elba Charities, walking and spending time with her family.

MaryLou was preceded in death by her parents and brother Edward LaPlante.

MaryLou is survived by her spouse Robert W. Duffy, formerly of Lake Placid and a resident of Ballston Spa; her three sons: Peter (Karen) Duffy of Ballston Spa, Shaun Duffy of Milford, Conn. and Devin (Sarah) Duffy of Argyle; foster son Christopher Ellsworth of Whalen; sister Hazel (Ronnie) Ouimette of Keeseville; and foster brothers: Ernest LaMoy of Lake Placid and Athol (Buddy) Lomax of Connecticut; seven grandchildren: Anthony, Victoria, Nicole, Cortni, Malorie, Landon and Connor; two great-grandchildren Jayden and Bentleigh; and nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11 at M.B. Clark Inc. Funeral Home in Lake Placid with a funeral service to follow at 6 p.m. with the Rev Patrick O’Reilly officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to High Peaks Hospice or Saratoga County Hospice.
