Lucille T. DeForge

Lucille T. DeForge, 95, of Lake Flower Ave., Saranac Lake, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

She was born in Lackawanna on Aug. 24, 1918, the daughter of Stella DeForge.

Miss DeForge has been a resident of Saranac Lake for many years. She had been employed by the Department of the Army at the Office of the Quartermaster General in Washington, D.C. and later retired from the Harrisburg, Pa. office as a supervisor after 32 years of service.

Lucille had been a member of the St. Bernard’s Altar and Rosary Society, AARP and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, reading biographies, mysteries and her dachshunds. One of her favorite pastimes was garage saleing as soon as the season started.

She is survived by two brothers: James Whitelaw of Bloomingdale and Thomas Whitelaw of Anaheim, Calif. and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother Stella DeForge, her brother Raymond Whitelaw, her sister Jeannette LaPier, and her brother Richard Whitelaw.

Calling hours will take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at noon at St. Bernard’s Church in Saranac Lake with the Rev. Mark Reilly officiating. Burial will take place at St. Bernard Cemetery in Saranac Lake in May.
