Beverly (Hillman) Merritt

Beverly Hillman Merritt of Laurel, Md., died quietly in her sleep on Nov. 22, 2013, after a hard-fought battle of nearly three years against cancer.

She was born and raised in Saranac Lake.

She graduated from Albany State University, started her teaching career, and got married in 1959. She gave up her career to raise her four children, then returned to the workforce as they matured. She succeeded as a teacher, a medical transcriptionist, and a legal secretary.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ted and Eleanor Hillman of Saranac Lake, and her sister Anita.

She is survived by her four children: H. Robert of Saranac Lake, Martha of Laurel, Md., John of Annapolis, Md., and Jason of Kensington, Md.; her grandson, Liam of Laurel, Md.; and her husband; her sister and brother-in-law, Miriam and Michael Kondroski of Saranac Lake; her nephew and niece, David and Virginia Kondroski and their son, Micah, of Rotunda West, Fla.; and her nephew and niece, William and Krista Branch and their two sons, Nathan and Daniel, of Laramie, Wyo.

Her family wishes to express their sincere thanks and good wishes to all who accepted and enjoyed her as a friend and confidant while sharing her life.
